Photo Diary II: Isla Mujeres (DIY Adventure)

Cafe Mogagua: Av. Benito Juarez, Mz. 14 Lt. 12 Sm.1, 77400 Isla Mujeres, Q.R., Mexico

We stopped in here thinking it was Mango Café, since we read a bunch of reviews online and it had great ratings, but we totally forgot the name (Mango.. didn't think it'll be that hard to remember) but we only remembered the "M" =.=.. so we went into Cafe Mogagua, thinking it was Mango Café until we later drove past it. But... it was closed anyways, so I guess it was a good thing we didn't drive all the way there because it's quite a drive (on our slow golf cart) from the Port.

We ordered 2 blended ice-coffees, one chocolatey chip and the other java chip. They both tasted the same :(. Nothing too special, Starbucks is definitely better. It was a good thing we got these though, because it took a very long time for our food to come. Not sure if the service is usually slow here, but we did come at an odd time. The Cafe had just finished serving their Breakfast menu and was transitioning to their Lunch menu, so we had to wait 15min for the Lunch Menu to start. But, even after ordering, it took about ~1 hour for our food to come.

Tortugranja (Turtle Farm): Carretera Sac Bajo Km 5 | Fraccionamiento Mar Turquesa, Isla Mujeres 77400, Mexico
Look at that big Lobster!!

Hehe it's Squirt! Tortugranja is a government sponsored hatchery for endangered sea turtles. Authorized and trained volunteers from the turtle farm's examine the beaches on the Carribean coastline to collect turtle eggs (each turtle can lay up to more than 100 eggs at a time). The volunteers then carry the eggs back to the farm and incubate them for 60-days before releasing all of the baby turtles in October.

1 thing you should always do while travelling is: Get Lost

If you have nowhere to be in a timely manner, then stumble along and wander around.

On our way back from Punta Sur, we found this beach. No idea which beach this is :P But very pretty. Lots of rocks, so you have to be careful and its sort of down a mini cliff/hill. But, listening to the sound of the waves splashing on the rocks was totally worth it!

This is the ferry we took to get to Isla Mujeres. Make sure you sit on top and enjoy some live music :) One of the highlights of the trip ^-^!

These birds are everywhere in Mexico. We never figured out what they were. But they have the biggest wings and are always soaring above us. If anyone knows what type of birds they are, please drop us a message ^-^!
